Hastings Prince Edward Public Health
Online Bulletin for Health Care Providers

March 25, 2020

From:
Dr. Piotr Oglaza
Medical Officer of Health & CEO
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health

Dear Colleagues:

Thank you for your continued efforts during these challenging times. As previously announced, extensive planning has been underway with local and government partners for local COVID-19 Assessment Centers. We are pleased to announce that the final stages of this coordinated process is being reached and operational plans are well underway.

As we near the operational phase of our first local assessment center, associated clinical needs have been identified. This includes the recruitment of a “roaming clinician” to help provide limited patient follow-up, particularly for the many unattached patients in our communities. This clinician would provide OHIP covered services, most of which could be provided via remote methods.

I strongly feel local assessment centers are crucial for the health of our community as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and support this ongoing effort. On behalf of Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and Quinte Health Care, we are requesting that clinicians who are interested in contributing to these efforts identify themselves as candidates.

Please express your interest in this by contacting Jeff Hohenkerk at QHC by email jhohenkerk@qhc.on.ca. Copies of the current Belleville site proposal can also be obtained by request.

I wish you good health during this uncertain time.

Thank you for your consideration,

Sincerely,

Dr. Piotr Oglaza, MD, CPHI(C), CCFP, MPH, FRCPC
Medical Officer of Health and CEO
