Quarterly Key Projects Update

The District of Squamish continues to advance major infrastructure and facility projects to support our growing communuty.

A Quarterly Key Projects Update was presented to Council at the Special Business Meeting on Tuesday, January 13, and included information and progress reports on Operational Expenditures, Cheekeye Barrier construction, Public Works Facility construction, Brennan Park upgrades, X̱wú'neḵw Park sea dike construction and more.

2026-2035 Financial Plan Adopted by Council

The District of Squamish has adopted its first ever 10-year Financial Plan at a Special Business Meeting of Council, January 13, 2026. The Financial Plan outlines the District’s operating costs, capital plan, funding sources, tax rate and utility rate impacts over a 10-year period while considering the impacts of rising costs, ongoing attention to facility upgrades, and long-term capital program.

An approximate 30+ hours of Council deliberations of the budget began last fall as residents weighed in to provide feedback on whether the District’s financial planning aligns with community values and priorities.

Alternative Approval Process

The District of Squamish is seeking elector approval through an Alternative Approval Process (AAP) to finance portions of the following infrastructure investments that will improve flood protection and firefighting capability.

  • Flood Protection
  • Whittaker Slough Pump Station
  • Fire Truck Purchase

If you are NOT OPPOSED to these bylaws, you do not need to submit any forms.

If you are OPPOSED to one or more of these bylaws, please complete the related Elector Response Form and submit it to the District no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 16.

FortisBC Traffic Impact Notice

Finch Drive between Loggers Lane and Highway 99 is now closed due to construction.

The closure will remain in place through the duration of work (pipeline installation) which is expected to be complete September 2026.

RCMP detachment access will be maintained.

Seeking Applications for Board of Variance Members

The District of Squamish is looking for two new members to fill three‑year terms ending December 31, 2028 on the Board of Variance and encourages interested members of the public to submit an application form and resume.

Boards of Variance in B.C. sit to consider applications from property owners requesting variances to zoning and land use bylaws. The Squamish Board of Variance meets quarterly on the third Wednesday of March, June, September, and December at 6:30 p.m., if an application is received. Additional meetings may be scheduled with approval of a sufficient number of board members.

Application forms are available at Municipal Hall and on the District of Squamish website: squamish.ca/board-and-panel-meetings. Please submit an application form and resume no later than Friday, February 6 at 4:30 pm.

Outstanding Utilities and Property Taxes

With a MyCity login, you can access your Property Taxes, Utilities, and Business Licence accounts. If you already have a Squamish Recreation Services program registration account, you can use the same login. Your folio number and access code required for registration can be found on your 2025 Property Tax Notice or Reminder Statement.

Log in to MyCity to:

  • View account information.
  • Sign up to receive invoices and notices by email.
  • View status of applications and milestones (including inspections in progress and pre-occupancy checklist detail).

Property owners are responsible for payment of utilities regardless of whether or not a notice is received. New owners should ensure utilities are paid on their property. If there is any doubt, please contact us.

2026 Dog Licences

An account number is required in order to renew your licence online. Account numbers are listed on your renewal notice. If you do not have your account number, please contact Community Bylaw Services at bylaw@squamish.ca.

Residents can renew their dog licences for a discounted fee before January 31. The January 31 discount date is set by bylaw and is the same date each year.

Dog licences may also be renewed in-person at Municipal Hall and the RCMP Detachment Front Counter (1000 Finch Drive) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Infrastructure Upgrades

  • Xwu’nekw Park Sea Dike upgrades continue.
  • Loggers East Storm Sewer project continues on Finch Drive.

  

Pickleball!
Tuesdays at Brennan Park Recreation Centre

Starting January 20, Tuesday night Pickleball All Levels drop‑in commences! Our drop‑in sessions book to a maximum of 22 people to encourage rest periods and rotational play. Expect to play against varying experience levels; no instruction provided.

Pre‑registration opens 72‑hours in advance.


Dance Sampler (5-7yrs + 8-12yrs)
at Brennan Park Recreation Centre

Get ready to move, groove, and explore! The class introduces young dancers to a variety of styles (ballet, jazz, and creative movement) in a fun, playful environment. Perfect for all levels!


Silver Swans Ballet (55yrs+)
Program starts February 4 
at Brennan Park Recreation Centre


Designed specifically for adults 55 and over, Silver Swans offers a gentle and accessible approach to ballet, helping participants improve balance, strength, posture, and overall wellbeing. Classes are accessible to different fitness levels and mobility. No prior ballet experience is required just a willingness to move and enjoy music. Drop-ins available, space permitting.


Field Allocation Meeting

A Field Allocation Meeting will be held on January 28, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Brennan Park Recreation Centre. A calendar will be posted online no later than February 16, 2026.

Season 1: March 1–August 31, 2026

Fields: Centennial Fields (1–4, 7, 8), Field 5 (Homer Dome), Field 6 (LaRoy Watt), Hendrickson Fields, Artificial Turf, Howe Sound Secondary Community Field, and Beer Garden or Tournament use within the District of Squamish.

2026 Field Closures

  • Centennial Fields 1–6: April 20–May 1
  • Hendrickson Fields & Centennial Field 5: June 22–July 3
