Free Virtual Access to Quality Forum 2022

This year’s Quality Forum features more opportunities than ever before to watch sessions live online, ask speakers questions and connect with other participants through interactive chats.

The livestream schedule includes Health Talks, all plenary presentations, the debate and 14 breakout sessions featuring 42 rapid fire presentations. So be sure to visit BCPSQC.ca from May 31 – June 2 to access 20+ hours of programming for free!

Hosted by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council, which administers PVN, the Quality Forum is an annual conference that brings together British Columbia’s health care community to share and discuss how to improve quality across the continuum of care.

Making the Spectrum Work for You

The IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation is a valuable tool used to identify how patient partners will be engaged and the extent to which they’ll influence an initiative’s outcomes. We’ve created a new resource, IAP2 Spectrum: Defining Expectations, so that patient and health care partners can be on the same page about what to expect.

International "What Matters to You?" Day is June 9!

“What matters to you?” is a simple question that can have a big impact on quality of care. When providers have conversations about what really matters to patients, caregivers and families, they build meaningful relationships and advance person- and family-centred care.

On the ninth annual International "What Matters to You?" Day, the province of British Columbia has once again issued a proclamation recognizing the importance of this patient- and family-centred approach.

Help Us Celebrate!
Spread the word about “What Matters to You?” using our media kit! Plus, we’re running a contest on Twitter until June 9 – tweet at @BCPSQC with a photo of you holding this poster for a chance to win a “What Matters to You?” t-shirt and other prizes.

Share Your Stories
Sharing stories about “What Matters to You?” conversations inspires others and demonstrates the impact that these conversations can have for both patients and providers. Leading up to International “What Matters to You?” Day on June 9, we invite you to share your impact stories. Take a look at last year’s stories featured in our special edition newsletter.

Read Culturally Safe Engagement Resources
In celebration of International “What Matters to You?” Day last year, we hosted an event which asked Indigenous patient partners what mattered to them when participating in culturally safe patient engagement opportunities. Following the event we created two resources which support health care partners to put cultural safety and humility into practice when engaging with Indigenous Peoples. Download the resources.

Hey, Health Care Partners: New Resources to
Improve Your Partnerships

We’ve created three new resources to help our health care partners on their patient engagement journeys: Selecting a Patient Partner who’s a great fit for your work, Leading Great Meetings that set the stage for a great engagement and Committee Principles & Guidelines which can help you understand the different types of committees and align their purposes with patient partner input.

That's a Wrap On Our
Patient Engagement Learning Series!

Watch All Recordings

Our Patient Engagement Learning Series was a one-stop shop to develop your skills for authentic patient engagement and bring health care and patient partners together to strengthen their work.

The first session focused on the most important things to consider when starting out as a health care – patient partner team. Watch the recording here.

The second session was all about cultural safety in patient engagement and how to engage with Indigenous patient partners safely. Watch the recording here.

The third centred diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as how to safely engage patient partners. Watch the recording here.

And the final session shared how to close the loop and create a meaningful evaluation approach. Watch the recording here.
