| Weâre having a mini mod quilt swap at our July meeting! Everyone is welcome to participate, here's how: What to do - Make a mini modern quilt, the design and binding is up to you
- Use VMQG fabric coloursâKona Aloe, Wasabi, Kumquat, Nightfall and Snow (or colours that match closely; no pattern fabric)
- Minimum size 4 x 4 inches to a maximum of 10 x 10 inches
- Include a label on the back: VMQG Mini Mod Quilt Swap, July 2024, made by (your name).
- Submit this form
How it works Your name will go into the swap group list, make your mini mod quilt and bring it to the July meeting to be swapped. If you canât attend in person, you could have someone bring your quilt to the swap on your behalf, or reach out to the executive and we can help coordinate. We will randomly swap the mini quilts ensuring that every participant receives a mini quilt made by another member. If you have any questions or need help filling out the form, email Dianne communication@vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca | VMQG members win at the CQA National Juried Show Congratulations to our members, Laura Gates, Liz Young and Terry Aske for winning awards at the Canadian Quilters' Association National Juried Show held in June, in Edmonton. Well done! All winning work can be seen here. | Test Drive â Modern â 2nd Place, made by Elizabeth Young This piece began as a study of shape, leading into an exercise in the construction of potential components for future quilting projects. It was a test project to see what I wanted to develop further and in what direction. It was in factâŠa test drive. Techniques and Materials: Machine pieced. Essex Linen, Hobbs 80-20 batting, Omni thread. Quilting: Machine-quilted using a framed machine. Credits: Quilted by Nick Turcan, Mystery Stitch Designs. Sponsored by: Mad About Patchwork. | Ticking All the Boxes â Modern â 3rd Place, made by Terry Aske Lists with tick boxes make me ridiculously happy, and marking a task as completed gives me a very satisfied feeling. By using tick boxes, I can see the status of each item at a glance â completed (ticked), deferred (arrow), deleted (x) or still to be done (blank). Techniques and Materials: Machine pieced, Machine appliquĂ©, Fused appliquĂ©, Raw Edge appliquĂ©. Commercial cotton fabrics, acrylic felt, bias tape, felt batting. Quilting: Machine-quilted using a frameless machine. Sponsored by; Mad About Patchwork | Peace Baby â Excellence Machine Quilting Framed, made by Laura Gates Making baby quilts fill our desire to keep little ones warm and safe. The Peace Baby quilt began with a mandala-inspired design but the goal was always to make a cuddly blanket. For me, adding the stitching detail is soothing and a most enjoyable part of quilt making. Techniques and Materials: Machine pieced, Machine appliquĂ©. Top: cotton, batting: 80/20 and wool. Quilting: Machine-quilted using a framed machine, with a stitch regulator. Credits: Joan Hebden collaborated in this quilt with her machine appliquĂ© lettering. Sponsored by: The Grace Company Canada & Calgary Longarm Quilters | September Block LottoâWoven Block The September block lotto is the Woven Block, from Sew Happy Geek.
