In the process of deconfinement, the Government of Quebec is making several announcements regarding the reopening of facilities or economic sectors. The City continues to closely monitor the situation and assesses the preventive measures recommended by the Government of Quebec with each announcement to ensure the safest deconfinement possible.

In this email, you will find an update on the situation at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

LOCKS AND NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE OF THE CANAL-DE-SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE

The Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal is expected to welcome boaters for the navigation season from June 15 until Monday, October 12, 2020.

Parks Canada also annouces that in order to ensure the safety of employees and respect physical distancing, access to the central island will be strictly reserved for lock keepers and other Parks Canada employees during the period of June-October. In addition, mooring will be limited in order to avoid excessive site traffic.

Finally, three lockages will be scheduled at fixed hour every day: 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

These decisions could change over the course of the season depending on the evolution of the COVID-19. It should be noted that Parks Canada is currently carrying out major repair work on the upstream jetty; although no obstruction to navigation is expected, inconveniences such as noise and dust are to be expected.

PROMENADE DU CANAL

The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is evaluating the possibility of reopening access to the Promenade du Canal around mid-June as well.

We understand that this place is dear to the residents and merchants of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and that many are impatient to be able to access the area again.

More information will be communicated soon.

ACCESS TO PLAYGROUNDS AND WATER FOUNTAINS

Following the recommendations of the Direction de la Santé publique, the playgrounds and water fountains in the parks will be accessible again this Saturday. Please allow us to perform the necessary cleaning before reusing them.

Again, we ask everyone's cooperation to follow the recommended sanitary measures. It is important not to use these facilities if you or a person living in your home has symptoms of COVID-19.

We also recommend bringing your own water bottles and using the water fountains only if necessary.

OPENING OF THE POOL AND REGISTRATION FOR AQUATIC ACTIVITIES

The City is currently evaluating the directives issued by Public Health regarding the opening of swimming pools. It is a priority for us to ensure that we can offer a safe environment for swimmers and lifeguards.

In order to allow us to properly assess the situation, we are suspending registrations for aquatic activities that were normally scheduled this week.

More details will follow soon as well.

PUBLIC LIBRARY

We are currently working on the plan to reopen the library in mid-June.

The Phase 1 of reopening will only allow contactless book loan service.

More details on the reopening date and the process in place will follow.

PARKING

During the confinement period, the City granted a pause as to the application of the parking regulations.

As announced, this period ended May 31st. The Parking By-law no.769 (parking limits of 2 hrs and 4 hrs) will be applied as usual from now on.

Note however that the modification to the by-law concerning the 30-minutes parking limit on rue Sainte-Anne, between rue Saint-Pierre and pont Galipeault remains in effect until further notice.

GARAGE SALES

All garage sales, whether community sales or private, are prohibited for the period of June to September.

We will reassess this measure in September, depending on the state of the situation.

Thank you for your understanding.
