Reading with your Child

Reading with your child is so important! When young children have positive experiences with reading, they are more likely to and grow up to be readers themselves.

Help make reading times fun with these helpful tips:

  • Read to your child when they are feeling snuggly, like in the evenings or when they first wake up.
  • Get cozy in a comfortable seat, under a blanket, or encourage your child to cuddle a stuffed animal.
  • Let your silly side out by reading with different voices and using lots of expression.
  • Help engage your child in the story by asking questions or talking about the pictures.
  • Let your child take the lead- allow them to turn the pages or let them to decide when reading time is over (time permitting).
