Introducing the New Improving Health Care Together Kits

We’re making partnerships the easy choice for patients and health care teams by supporting you to work together with the introduction of new Improving Health Care Together Kits. Read on to learn more about these new tools and how you can get started with the first kit we’re launching – the Leadership Job Interview Panel Kit, created in partnership with Providence Health Care, Island Health and patient partners.

What are Improving Health Care Together Kits?
We’ve noticed that patients and health care partners can both benefit from guidance on how to work together better. The kits are a support to improve collaboration on frequent engagement opportunities. Each topic we cover has two versions, one for patient partners and another for health care partners and are designed to help you gain knowledge and basic skills that help increase your confidence.

The kits will guide you through the steps to:

  • Learn about the opportunity, including some important definitions
  • Increase your understanding of the roles and expectations of working together
  • Apply what you learn to further involvement together, and
  • Provide a reference resource for the future

The Leadership Job Interview Panels Kit

The first kit we created is designed to support Leadership Job Interview Panels. Involving patients, families and caregivers in Leadership Job Interview Panels demonstrates an organization’s commitment to hiring people who reflect the values of dignity, respect, caring and trust. Leaders model the importance of person- and family-centred care in the way they support others.

By having patient partners involved in these panels, organizations:

  • Embed these values into their practices
  • Learn from lived experiences in the system
  • Improve health care delivery and patient experience

In addition, including patient partners on interview panels:

  • Is an opportunity to advance the principles of person- and family-centred care
  • Ensures patients’ voices help shape the health care workforce
  • Makes sure the workforce is responsive to the needs, values, beliefs and preferences of patients and their families

We’re excited to see how the Improving Health Care Together Kits can help patient partners and health care partners work better together to improve health care in BC! Click below to get the Leadership Job Interview Panels Kit today and watch for future kits coming soon!
