Named after the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim (Squamish) word for riverbank, the park reflects the channel of the Squamish River that once ended where the park is located. Located within SEAandSKY, Miyíw̓ts Park (pronounced mee-yutes) offers greenspace, walking and cycling paths, a children's playground area and scenic lookout points as well as a pump track and future basketball court. The shoreline adjacent to Miyíw̓ts Park provides a rich marine and intertidal habitat that supports many species of birds, fish and other wildlife. One of the primary goals of the park design is to prioritize ecological restoration and protect the natural shoreline. The community is invited to attend the official opening on Monday, October 7 at 11 a.m. Access to the park is located at the western end of Channel Road. Limited parking is available along Channel Road and Coho Rock Way. Once the pedestrian bridge is complete, Miyíw̓ts Park will be accessible from Downtown. The park and neighbourhood is also accessible via the Cooridor Trail and the Highway 99 intersection pedestrian crossing at Clarke Drive. | The District of Squamish is seeking elector approval to finance portions of the following projects through an Alternative Approval Process (AAP): - Whittaker Slough Pump Station
- Xwu'nekw Park Sea Dike
- Loggers East Drainage Diversion Pipe
- Cemetery Expansion
- Mamquam Bridge Resurfacing
Long-term borrowing is a useful tool for municipalities that spreads the cost of large projects over the life of the project and allows today’s taxpayers – as well as future taxpayers – to pay for it. - If you are NOT OPPOSED to these bylaws, you do not need to submit any forms.
- If you are OPPOSED to one or more of these bylaws, please complete the related Elector Response Form and submit it to the District no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024.
