ACTIVITY GUIDE

Cleaning Catch Basins

Keeping catch basins clear allows rainfall to flow into the storm drains. You can help by using a shovel or a rake to keep catch basins on your street clear of debris.

If flooding occurs, call Public Works at
250-758-5222.

HOW TO CLEAR A CATCH BASIN

Are you ready for winter storms?

It’s supposed to be extra windy this week so make sure you are prepared at home.

Have a storm readiness plan and an emergency kit. In the event of a power outage or severe weather, make sure your home is stocked with necessary supplies such as:

  • battery-powered flashlight
  • radio
  • ready-to-eat food
  • water
  • first-aid kit
  • blankets
  • candles
  • extra clothing

BC Hydro has a good list of supplies and things you can do to be prepared during an outage.

The Sweet Layered Podcast: Arenas!

Arenas are more than buildings; they're vibrant hubs that bring people together, hosting everything from hockey games to weekend skating sessions all while creating lasting memories. In this episode of The Sweet Layered Podcast, Dale Burgos chats with Arenas Manager, Grace Bell,  Recreation Coordinator, Allison Schneider, and Arena Maintenance Worker, Aaron Denninger, to explore how sheets of ice are made, why arenas matter and their role in supporting the social fabric of our communities. We also reveal the theme for this year’s Winter Wonderland!
