Be “Green” on St. Patrick’s Day!

This St. Patrick’s Day don’t just wear green, be “green”! There are so many ways to mark this day while also reducing waste and helping our planet:

Decorate “green” – if you choose to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day, use ones that you can keep and use again or refashion things you already have around the house.

Recycle – make sure to properly sort all your recyclables. Use the What Goes Where Tool on the Nanaimo Recycles app or find more information, along with the tool, on the Recycling page on the City.

Plant a tree or two – the City still has the popular tree voucher program where you can purchase a tree to plant on your property for the low cost of $25. Learn more about this program on the City website.

Recycling 101

How’s your recycling knowledge? Did you know that cardboard boxes should be flattened and cut into pieces that are 2 ft by 2 ft (60 cm x 60 cm) before going into your blue cart? This will make space for more items in your cart and make it easier for all recyclables to get into the truck on collection day.

Learn more Recycling 101 tips on the Recycling page on the City website.
