Deadlines & important upcoming dates

 

FOR GRADS

May 2025 Graduation Application - due April 17, 2025

Students wishing to graduate in May 2025 must formally:

APPLY to graduate

To be approved for graduation

  • thesis/dissertation approved
  • your program closed 

This is usually a few weeks to a month after you defend depending on how long revisions and collecting signatures for the necessary paperwork takes but G+PS will send you a thesis receipt when it happens.

FOR GRADS

2025 Summer Tuition Deadline Deferral Application - due April 30, 2025

Students that need a tuition deadline deferral because they're waiting to be paid by GRA and/or TAship can apply for a tuition deferral directly:

If you’re waiting for your Summer 2025 appointments to be submitted in Workday in order to provide proof of compensation, Mimi will be submitting those in early April. More information in the handbook here

UBC Life Sciences Symposium

The symposium will feature the student-voted guest speaker Dr. James Burke (UF Scripps) as well as UBC’s own Dr. Brett Finlay. Attendees will also participate in discussions surrounding EDI in research with Dr. Liz Rideout, and refine their graphical abstract-making skills with renowned data visualization expert Martin Krzywinski.

Students and postdocs are encouraged to share their work by presenting either a short talk (6 minutes) or a poster for the chance to win awards. Attending registrants will automatically be entered in a draw for raffle prizes.
