Learn about the Future of Work

Future of Work is a four-part event series where UBC Faculty of Management has brought together different panels that are focused on the forces that shape the future of work. With pandemic-induced changes, rapid technological advancement, and increased urgency to mitigate the climate change crisis, the world of work is dynamic.

Our first event, The Future of the Workforce, will be held on Wednesday, October 11 from 3-4 pm in UNC 200. It examines how people are an organization’s most valuable assets, and how the management of human resources plays a critical role in helping organizations respond to challenges and opportunities. We will explore real-world cases of how human resource experts are responding to the demands of pandemic-accelerated change and to understand what strategies and organizational structures enable a dynamic talent and work model for the future.

UBC Okanagan Debates: Free Speech is not Dead, Oct. 24

Join the forward thinkers considering these questions, for a spirited debate that promises to challenge assumptions, provoke thought, and potentially reshape your understanding of the future of free speech.

Have you completed the Student Diversity Census yet?

The UBC Student Diversity Census is a UBC-wide census that aims to enhance the collection of student demographic data. Students and community members were consulted when developing the questions.

Completing the census is important in helping UBC better understand the diversity of our student population, student experiences, student inclusion, and success, and in assessing the progress of equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities.

All UBC students received a link to the census in your Canvas inbox.

Let’s choose to reuse

Bring your reusable cup to campus and save $0.50-$2 a week, or $50-100 per year! In 2022, UBCO disposed of 53kg of garbage per person. 88% was found to be divertible or recyclable material and 16% of that consisted of single-use coffee cups.

Let’s choose to reuse! We’re working together to reduce single–use items on campus. Bring your own reusable cup to campus for your favourite beverage and receive a $0.50 eco-discount at campus food outlets.
