New Publication – Portrait of Health in All Policies in Canada: Advancing Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Through the Atlantic Summer Institute’s Upstream Investment Policy Brief

This publication presents the work of the Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI) in advancing the promotion of Mental Health in All Policies in Atlantic Canada. Through its Upstream Investment policy brief, ASI offers a strategic roadmap and evidence-informed recommendations to integrate mental wellbeing across all life stages and throughout all sectors and levels of government.

It is part of a series conceived by the Canadian Network for Health in All Policies to document the current state and diversity of HiAP initiatives being implemented across Canada.

Each case summary examines:

• The origins and objectives of the initiative
• Their governance and implementation mechanisms
• Their results, funding sources, and evaluation tools

Recorded Webinar – The Many Facets of Health in All Policies in Canada

This webinar highlighted the various Canadian initiatives featured in the Portrait of Health in All Policies in Canada series (mentioned above). Panellists representing a range of sectors shared their experiences implementing HiAP, with a focus on governance, intersectoral collaboration, evaluation, and conditions for success. Aimed at public health professionals and their intersectoral partners, the webinar provided an opportunity to discuss practical challenges encountered and lessons learned, with the aim of inspiring concrete action in different contexts.

This webinar was presented by the Canadian Network for Health in All Policies and the NCCHPP.

Just published! The CPHO of Canada's Report on the State of Public Health in Canada 2025

The Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) Annual Report on the State of Public Health in Canada 2025, Working Together to Thrive: Well-being and Public Health is now available. This report explores the strengths of bringing well-being and public health approaches together to improve the conditions for people to thrive on a healthy planet, now and into the future.

The main themes of the report include:

  • exploring how well-being approaches and frameworks can be mutually beneficial to many sectors including to advance public health priorities;
     
  • illustrating the role of public health in well-being initiatives through applied examples of intersectoral action; and
     
  • identifying opportunities for public health systems to strengthen efforts that address the overlapping societal conditions that influence both health and well-being.

The NCCHPP is proud to have contributed to the development of this report. Congratulations to the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer!

Call for Applications

2026 Knowledge Translation Graduate Student Awards

The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health (NCCPH) Knowledge Translation (KT) Graduate Student Awards recognize students’ work in public health in Canada.

The NCCPH will award three prizes of $1500 during the Canadian Public Health Association’s annual conference, Public Health 2026. Award winners will use the funding to register for and attend the conference, which runs March 11-13, 2026, in Montréal.

Award winners will also present their KT research projects to public health networks during the conference. The application deadline for the awards is December 1, 2025. Click here to learn about the 2025 award winners.
