Dear students,
With the Fall semester in progress, Columbia College would like to wish you the warmest welcome!
Given the current global pandemic, the College is making every effort to ensure that your learning experience, whether in-person or online, is exemplary, and that you have an unprecedented level of support. We welcome all of our High School students back to campus, our Science students to in-person Chemistry labs, and our new and continuing University Transfer and Associate Degree students to our Fall 2020 online classes.
Columbia College remains committed to high quality teaching and learning in both an online and select in-person environment. We are proud of all of our students who have been able to adapt to an online environment. Our Instructors and Staff are to be commended for their outstanding work in the transition to online teaching and learning, and remote working. We have made a significant effort to ensure that the delivery of our academic programs for the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 semesters are enriching and engaging.
Winter 2021 Course Delivery
Columbia College is working closely with the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, following the Provincial Health Authority’s guidelines. With the safety of students and staff in mind, the Winter 2021 semester will be delivered mostly online with select in-person delivery.
As it stands today and subject to Ministry direction, our High School students will continue to engage in in-person delivery, and our University Transfer and Associate Degree students will continue to study online, with the exception of select Chemistry labs (CHEM 123, 210, 220), which will be in-person.
Supporting our Students
We continue to support our students financially, academically, and through extra advice and counselling.
As we look to increase the support and opportunities we provide to our students, we will maintain the commitment we have developed over the last few months, prioritizing the health and wellbeing of our Students, Instructors and Staff.
We encourage you to:
- Assess yourself daily for COVID-19 symptoms and stay home if you are ill
- If you have been exposed to someone or have symptoms of COVID-19, complete the BC self-assessment tool
- Continue on practicing social distancing and wearing a mask when out in public
- Visit our website for more information on services available to current students
If you have any questions, please email Student Services at ssa@columbiacollege.ca.
COVID-19 has demonstrated that notwithstanding a difficult situation, Columbia College can continue to help our students to embrace learning and their dream of a pathway to university and ultimately career success.
Best regards,
