BLACK HISTORY MONTH READING LIST

February is Black History month, where we celebrate the contribution and leadership of Black people in Canada. We have compiled a list of books that do just that, including, They passed this way : a personal acknowledgment of the early Black settlers of Simcoe and Grey counties by Howard Sheffield. A local history of the black community in Grey County. There's even a list for children to learn along with you!

The Gallery at L.E. Shore’s colour exhibition is back again! This year, we are excited to be celebrating the colour ORANGE.

The exhibit is displayed in the "salon style," with artwork from local artists covering the walls from floor to ceiling.

From a Final Farewell to a Lasting Legacy 

In 1863, John Taylor donated the land for Victoria’s first Anglican church, vowing he would be the first to enter the building—even if he had to be carried. Tragically, he was right: the church’s first service was his own funeral. After 106 years of service, the building was decommissioned in 1969 and today stands as a private residence next to a historic pioneer cemetery.
