Honouring and amplifying Indigenous voices 

As we near the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this September 30, it’s important now more than ever to amplify Indigenous voices, experiences, and stories, and to acknowledge the lived truths of Indigenous peoples, including those of our BCIT alumni. 

June was National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to honour the history, heritage and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. To commemorate the day, we shared how Indigenous peoples in Canada from the BCIT community have told their vibrant stories, overcome adversity, and made a difference.

Joe Geluch spent his high school summers working in construction in Masset, Haida Gwaii, learning sustainable building methods from Indigenous principles.
