New Publication – Profiles of Public Health Systems in Canada: Alberta

As part of the Platform to Monitor the Performance of Public Health Systems research project, the NCCHPP worked with the team of Dr. Sara Allin, Dr. Andrew Pinto and Dr. Laura Rosella from the University of Toronto to make available profiles of public health in Canada.

The profile of Alberta was just added to the series of profiles that includes those of Ontario, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and Québec.

Practicum Offer

Analyzing public policy networks: comparing existing software (paid practicum)

The NCCHPP works on developing methodological tools for public health organizations who wish to map public policy networks. We are looking for an intern for winter 2023 whose work will consist of comparing the advantages and limits of various applications/software for network visualization and analysis. Candidates must be master’s students in social sciences, public administration, or public health and must also be bilingual (French/English)

The deadline for applying is November 30.

New report from the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada (CPHO)

The Chief Public Health Officer of Canada has released her 2022 report, “Mobilizing Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada”. The report includes priorities to establish public health as a key collaborator, convenor, and leader in addressing climate change. Many of the NCCs, including the NCCHPP, have contributed to this report.

CPHO 2022 Funding Opportunity

The CIHR Institutes of Population and Public Health and its partners are launching a funding opportunity to catalyze research aligned with the climate change priorities identified in the 2022 CPHO’s annual report and its companion document, “Generating Knowledge to Guide Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada”. The NCCs have contributed to determining and validating these priorities.

Interdisciplinary studies, Indigenous methodologies, and studies that apply novel approaches from different disciplinary traditions are welcome in the application process.
