Development Drop-In

The District of Squamish is hosting a Development Drop-In Open House in response to comments and concerns received regarding the rezoning application at 38779 and 38795 Britannia Avenue.

When: Thursday, January 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Where: Howe Sound Secondary School

This is an opportunity for the neighbourhood to learn more about the proposed rezoning application, and have their questions answered by District staff.

Street Banner Design Competition

Calling all Squamish artists! The 2025 Street Banner Design Competition is your chance to create bold, meaningful art that will brighten our streets and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Squamish.

Traffic Impact Notice: The Boulevard in Garibaldi Highlands.

Please expect changes to traffic patterns, including single-lane closures of the westbound lanes along The Boulevard on January 28, a closure of the eastbound lane on January 29, and minor impacts on January 30. During closures, a detour will be in place via Kintyre Drive and Lomond Way. Parking, bike lanes, and sidewalks will be inaccessible during work hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This work involves installing electrical upgrades. Please follow signage and directions from traffic personnel. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this work is completed.

Outstanding Business Licences

Online! Visit squamish.ca/payonline and use your Account Number and Access Code found on your renewal notice. If you do not have your Account Number or Access Code, email businesslicence@squamish.ca.

In-person at Municipal Hall (37955 Second Avenue) or the Building Department in Municipal Hall, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Debit, or cheque.

Please be advised that the District of Squamish no longer accepts credit card payments over the phone.

2025 Dog Licences

Renew your dog’s licence before January 31 to take advantage of the discounted rate. Licences can now be renewed online at squamish.ca/payonline by using the account number listed on your notice.

If you do not have your account number, please contact Community Bylaw Services at bylaw@squamish.ca.

You can also renew your dog licence in-person at Municipal Hall (37955 Second Avenue) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Tote and Organics Collection

  • January 31, 2025 (NEW) : Add a second organics collection container for 2025.
  • October 31, 2025: Change the size of your garbage tote for 2026.
  • Upsize your recycling tote from Medium to Large (no additional cost for the larger tote, but a $50 exchange fee applies).

Submit your request form by January 31, 2025, to take advantage of these options. Plan ahead and update your solid waste services today.

The Aquatic Centre is now open until 10 p.m. Monday to Friday. This includes access to the hot tub and warm pool. Please note that the steam room is currently closed.


Capoeira Classes for Kids & Families

Preschool (3–5 yrs): Strengthen family bonds through playful Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art and game that includes music and dance. Parent included in registration.

School Age (5–13 yrs): Build confidence, agility, and positivity with Capoeira Aché Brasil.

Drop-ins welcome if space permits. Join us for a free trial on Saturday, February 1.


Youth Swim

You heard it right—this is a Pool Takeover exclusively for youth! If you’re aged 13-18, gather your friends and dive into the fun. We’re taking over the pool on the last Saturday of every month. Next Youth Swim is January 25, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. See you there!
