Transport Canada: Validity of Aviation Document Booklets - Exemption from the application of subsections 401.12(2), 402.08(2) and (3) of the CARs

The purpose of this exemption is to adopt temporary measures in the public interest to enable all holders of valid Canadian Aviation Document Booklets to continue operations following supply chain issues that have not been resolved since the end of the COVID pandemic.

More specifically, this exemption allows all holders of Canadian Aviation Document Booklets that were still valid on April 1, 2023 to continue exercising the privileges stated in their booklet until August 31, 2024; or beyond if the expiry date affixed in the booklet is later.

This exemption reinstates the regulatory relief previously granted under similar exemption NCR-059-2021.

This event aims to raise funds for young children at the CHU de Québec who are fighting cancer. Hugo Desrochers is a pilot for Air Canada and himself fought leukemia at the age of 29.

In the form of a day of seaplane flights departing from Lake Saint-Augustin, the event allows around twenty children to fly over the beautiful City of Quebec under the fall colors, thus allowing them to forget the space of a few moments, illness and treatments.

Since 2018, the event has partnered with the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, an organization whose mission is to provide all children with cancer with the best chance of cure by financing research and supporting the development of projects dedicated to cancer. pediatric hemato-oncology.

Matane Airport: Inauguration of the Russell-Burnett airport following $13 million renovations

Aviateurs.Québec was present in Matane this weekend for the inauguration of the Russel-Burnett airport following $13 million in renovations.

Aviateurs.Québec would like to congratulate Eddy Métivier, mayor of Matane, for his arduous work in revamping the Matane airport. You should know that in 2015, Eddy Métivier took up his pilgrim's staff to prevent the closure of the airport due to its dilapidated state. What an impressive career this man has had since then, knowing that today we can call him the Mayor of Matane!

Thank you to Eddy Métivier for all your work and perseverance in offering the people of Matane an airport worthy of this beautiful region.

The name of the airport was attributed to Gérard Burnet and his wife Elspeth Russell who founded Matane Air Services in 1947. This couple was an important player in the history of aviation in Quebec. Elspeth Russell was inducted into the Air and Space Pantheon in 2002 while Gérard Burnett was inducted in 2020. To find out more about this part of the history of aviation in Quebec,  click HERE
