2024 Statement of Financial Information
CFO Krista Waite received Council approval of the 2024 Statement of Financial Information (SOFI). The Financial Information Act requires municipalities to prepare a SOFI report within six months of the end of each fiscal year. The Financial Information Regulation also requires that the Statement be approved by Council and by the officer assigned responsibility for financial administration under the Community Charter. The Statement outlines the following financial information:
- Statement of assets and liabilities
- Operational statement
- Schedule of debts
- Schedule of guarantee and indemnity agreements
- Schedule of remuneration and expenses
- Schedule of payments to suppliers for goods and services

2024 Annual Report and Financial Statements
The Council has approved the 2024 Annual Report and Financial Statements and has directed staff to submit the report to the Government Finance Officers Association for review under the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, an award the City of Kimberley has received for 7 years in a row. The report includes:
- Messages from Mayor McCormick, the Chief Administrative Officer and the Chief Financial Officer;
- An overview of Council's mission statement, community vision, values, and strategic goals and priorities;
- Contact information for elected officials and the management team;
- An organizational chart;
- 2024 Tax exemptions;
- Department highlights, strategies, measures and performance;
- Consolidated financial statements;
- City of Kimberley Statistics.

2025 UBCM Convention Attendee Authorization
Council authorized six Councillors and one staff member to attend the 2025 Union of British Columbia Municipalities conference taking place in September 2025. See the full report at the agenda link above.
Notice of Motion, Mayor McCormick - Deputy Mayor
Mayor McCormick made a Notice of Motion recommending that Council amend the City of Kimberley Council Procedure Bylaw No. 2598, 2017 to create a Deputy Mayor position to assume the Mayor's duties in his/her absence and for this appointment to be made at the beginning of each Council term. For this term (ending in October 2026), Mayor McCormick recommended Councillor McBain for the Deputy Mayor position. The motion also added provisions for the Chair of the Committee of the Whole to be shared on a rotating basis among Council members. After some discussion, the Notice of Motion was defeated.
