Colin Pinchin wins award for his sustainable architectural vision for the Downtown Eastside

When BCIT alum Colin Pinchin first conceived the idea for Pathways—an architectural building plan—he focused on helping one of Vancouver’s most marginalized communities, the Downtown Eastside (DTES). “There is opportunity...for the Downtown Eastside, and it lies in investing in the people who need support,” he says. Building of the new Health Sciences Centre is well underway

Have you been to the Burnaby campus recently? You may have noticed construction on the new Health Sciences Centre, the first in a number of innovative teaching and learning spaces supported by the BCIT INSPIRE Campaign. The centre, which will accommodate about 7,000 students, will be a four-storey, 106,660 sq. ft. net-zero carbon emission building, and the most sustainable building on the campus. Read more.

Explore systemic oppression, social justice, privilege, identity, and allyship through engaging activities in this free workshop. Through self-reflection, community-based inquiry, lessons from history, and problem-solving, participants gain the knowledge to view the world through an anti-oppressive lens.
