Call for KIN Orientation Leaders for Imagine Day 2020!

Interested in getting involved? Looking for volunteer opportunities that won’t break your timetable?

Applying to be a KIN Orientation Leader is a great way to get involved without disrupting your balancing act! Help KIN make a meaningful impact by facilitating Imagine Day activities, creating connections between peers, and building community.

Sound daunting? Never fear! Our training and Imagine Day prep consists of two mandatory training sessions and 3 online leadership activities (which take no more than 1 hour a month). Our Orientation Leaders are integral to welcoming new students into the KIN family, so show off your KIN spirit and apply today!

motionballU UBC Benchball Tournament

Every year, KIN Games teams from universities and colleges across Canada work towards raising funds to support Motionball and Special Olympics. On January 31st 2020, the KUS joined forces with UBC and Special Olympics BC (SOBC) to host the motionballU UBC Benchball Tournament at the Osborne Outdoor gym. Congratulations to the winning team KG #2!

KUS 2020 Health & Wellness Career Fair

The KUS Health and Wellness Career Fair, Kinesiology’s annual event involving a variety of employers and organizations in the field, took place in the AMS Great Hall on Wednesday, January 29th from 11:00am-3:00pm. With the hard work of the KUS, the KUS Professional Development Committee, coordinators Morgan Lorenz and Monica U, and the incredible help from the School of Kinesiology and Student Engagement, the event was an overall success.

Interested in physiotherapy? Passionate about inclusivity? Maintaining a safe and supportive environment is integral to fostering meaningful relationships with others, and making an impact on your community. 

Join the Canucks Autism Network for a workshop on supporting individuals with autism. The workshop will  provide an overview of autism, and introduce attendees to a range of applied strategies.

Admission includes the training session, a session workbook and a certificate of completion. The $25.00 early bird price will be offered until February 15th, after that the cost will be raised to $35.00 -- so register today!

ISAK Level I Course, from the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific

April 3-5 | UBC Vancouver Campus

Gain the knowledge and skill needed to measure human physique through this course hosted by the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific at UBC! Learn & apply theory in hands-on practical sessions, and gain your final certification after students complete 20 profiles following course completion.

Instructor Marcos Lovera has been involved in anthropometric projects in the fields of soccer, powerlifting and boxing. With a degree in Physical Education, Marcos specializes mainly in sport performance together with other areas such as kinanthropometry, physical training, athletes testing and body image. 

Timetable:

April 3-4 | 9:00am-5:00pm (lunch break 1-2pm)

April 5 | 9:00am-1:00pm (Exam)

Fees:

$350 for UBC students

10% discount for those registering before early-bird deadline of February 28, 2020.
