New Speed Limit for Greenwood Heights

Dear Timberlea-Prospect Residents,

As we move closer to the end of the calendar year, it is a good time to stop and reflect on the past year and set new goals and milestones for the year ahead.

I am filled with gratitude and pride that the work my colleagues and I started to improve healthcare services for Nova Scotians has been achieved this year with the opening of the Bayers Lake Outpatient Centre. In this case, it’s a pleasure to say this facility is right here in our own backyard!

The ability to access healthcare services in a state-of-the-art healthcare facility at a time when so many people are struggling to access healthcare is a milestone that can not be understated.

Another key investment for our community that has been an important personal and professional goal is the BLT Community Centre. The tender for this project closed December 11 with an anticipated recommendation for award by the new year. Demolition is scheduled to begin in January of 2024 with construction scheduled to begin in the summer.

Looking ahead to the New Year I will continue to pursue investments in more services and will be working with various departments and levels of government to ensure planning for the infrastructure needed to accommodate the residential growth and commercial development is underway and in progress.

I would like to extend my warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas filled with good health, laughter, love, happiness, and joy.

Warmest regards,

Iain Rankin

Bayer's Lake Outpatient Centre Updates

With the recent opening of the new outpatient facility, there were many concerns raised about parking.

I’m happy to share a “Parking Update”, via the Ministers response to an email I sent speaking to the concerns brought to my attention, with some action items to improve the parking experience at the Bayers Lake Outpatient Centre.

Notably, the following two changes are appreciated, an adjusted rate of $2 per 2 hours will cover the majority of appointment times, and volunteers will be in place at the front entrance to the facility to assist.

It was a pleasure to join the Prospect Slammers for their annual Christmas Dinner and Dance.

The evening was well planned starting with a fabulous turkey dinner, followed by great entertainment, prizes, a slide show, a visit from Santa and his elf, awards, music, and dancing.

It was a great evening and I look forward to meeting up with everyone on the pickleball court in the New Year!
