CLIENT SUCCESS STORY

My employment situation before reaching out to WorkBC was off the radar completely. I'll be honest: I had to relearn trust in professionals who wish to see me succeed. This was scary because I was sexually harassed as a client in the last organization I was a part of. Losing my trust in people affected how I felt about working with others in general.

At WorkBC, I was part of the LEADS program and had the pleasure of being a part of a group that supported each other. The facilitator changed our lives by teaching us how to deal with emotions and acknowledge cognitive distortions. I've never felt more in control of my state of mind, and it has helped me be the best version of myself.

My biggest fear in job hunting is rejection. WorkBC expanded my knowledge on employment ethics and increased my confidence in general, which helped me realize that it's normal to feel anxious. No matter what happens, you gain experience every time you network, attend an interview, write a resume, or tailor a cover letter, so your hard work is not in vain.

At the moment, I am working consistently to achieve my dream job as an esthetician. I have many long-term goals, and I've been blessed to have WorkBC fund a part of my courses at Blanche MacDonald to help me get the experience I need to reach those goals.

–Maxim K., WorkBC/LEADS Program client
