| Public Service Announcements and News Releases | SHA introducing more measures to keep facilities safe To help ensure a safe environment for everyone in the facility, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), in partnership with Emmanuel Health, is adding two additional metal detectors to St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. St. Paul’s Hospital is part of Emmanuel Health’s network of care. 🌐 View full release | SHA CARES - Living our Values | Body Two teams came together to make a big difference for some clients living with diabetes. Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) allow people living with diabetes to monitor their glucose levels in real time and receive alerts when levels move outside their target range. However, for clients with reduced grip strength or dexterity, opening the sensor applicator can be difficult or even impossible. Occupational Therapist Tyrel Knoblauch partnered with Clinical Nurse Educator Jody Reiber to find a solution. Using a 3D printer funded through a grant from Makers Making Change, Knoblauch modified 3D model designs and produced customized assistive devices that provide greater leverage and stability when opening CGM applicators. The ability to rapidly design, test and print these devices allows the team to create practical, low-cost solutions tailored to clients' needs. “This has helped my previously dependent clients become independent with opening and applying their CGMs, which allows me to spend time on other important tasks,” said a Home Care Nurse. Beyond supporting diabetes care, the 3D printer is also being used to develop other adaptive tools and equipment that help remove barriers and improve independence for clients across a variety of care settings. By combining expertise, innovation, and accessible technology, the teams are helping clients take greater control of their health while supporting independence in the community. | Turning Our Commitment into Action | Truth and Reconciliation in Social Work Practice – Moving Beyond Good Intentions to Create Meaningful Change 📅October 28, 2026 🕑2:30 p.m. Presenter: Cassie Stehanski, First Nations University of Canada This presentation will examine the TRC and Calls to Action, highlight the importance of self-reflection, and discuss challenges and opportunities in providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
