On October 15, Okotoks Transit upgraded on-demand technology to increase trip availability by managing ride cancellations and no-shows. The new system will monitor individual usage over a 30-day period. If a user has 10 or more bookings during this time and cancels/does not show up for 40% or more of them within one hour of booking time, they will be limited to two simultaneously open bookings for seven days. Once a ride is completed, another can be booked. After seven days, unlimited bookings will be available again. Thanks for your cooperation.

Include your swales in fall cleanup

Grass or concrete swales commonly run along the back or side of residential properties. They’re in place to help storm water drain properly, prevent flooding & damage to your property. Don’t let your swale fail – during autumn clean-up, don’t forget to clear your swale of fallen leaves and debris! And remember, yard waste can go in your green organics cart!

Pedestrian safety

During back to school season, drivers will find they are sharing the road with more pedestrians and bicycles, which are vulnerable road users. A greater level of vigilance and care is required by drivers to reduce injury or death that may occur during a collision.

  • Motorists should be careful when approaching intersections. Watch for cars slowing in the lane next to yours because other drivers may be yielding to a pedestrian.
  • Both pedestrians and motorists are responsible to abide by all signs, signals, and traffic laws.
  • Pedestrians should cross the road at designated crosswalks, make eye contact with motorists before crossing the street and be aware of any challenging road conditions that motorists may be experiencing.
