New publication – Understanding Public Policy Agenda Setting Using the 4 P's Model: Power, Perception, Potency and Proximity

This note on agenda setting helps one to understand the ranking of government priorities, that is, why some issues are prioritized and others ignored. Through the theoretical model of the “four Ps” (power, perception, potency and proximity) as well as a series of examples and questions, readers will gain a better understanding of agenda setting and its determinants.

UN Research Roadmap for the COVID-19 Recovery

In November, the United Nations published its Research Roadmap for the COVID-19 Recovery. This roadmap is the result of a collaboration involving 38 research funding organizations and 270 experts around the world. The effort was lead by Dr. Steven J. Hoffman, Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Population and Public Health.

The Roadmap outlines 25 research priorities for recovery and will help answer a singularly important question: How can COVID-19 socio-economic recovery efforts be purposefully designed to stimulate equity, resilience, sustainability & progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Webinar – One Infection, Four Continents & Eight Countries: The Psychosocial Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Wednesday December 16 2020, from 1 p.m to 2 p.m. EST

This webinar, hosted by our colleagues at the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases, will present the findings of a Canadian-led collaborative research project in eight countries aimed at measuring the role of communication strategies and media discourse in shaping psychological and behavioural responses of populations during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Dr. Mélissa Généreux, Principal Investigator for this research project, will cover the epidemiological psychosocial sequelae of the pandemic across countries, based on reported mental health problems and coping strategies adopted by survey respondents.
