THE CITY OF SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE DENOUNCES THE ABSENCE OF THE SPVM ON ITS TERRITORY

At the Council Meeting of May 11th, the Municipal Council adopted a resolution requesting  that the Agglomeration of Montreal and the SPVM provide an equal level of public security service to the citizens of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue to that received by the citizens of the City of Montreal and its boroughs, especially in this time of health crisis.

A press release was issued Tuesday and taken up by medias. In addition, letters were sent to the Agglomeration of Montreal and the Ministers concerned.

Since then, we have had discussions with the SPVM, in particular the Poste de Quartier 1 (PDQ-1), and we have expressed our concerns about the lack of presence of the SPVM in our territory. Following our discussions, the PDQ-1 is preparing an action plan that should take into account the concerns expressed.

DAY CAMPS, TEEN OUTINGS AND MUNICIPAL POOL

As for the opening of day camps and the municipal swimming pool, no decision has yet been taken. The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is waiting for clear directives from the Direction de la Santé Publique in order to be able to assess whether we are able to comply with them and thus ensure the safety of children, counselors and life guards. More details will follow.

PARKS AND TENNIS COURTS

The Government of Quebec has allowed the tennis courts to reopen provided that several specific health rules and measures are respected. We are currently analyzing these directives and will soon be able to confirm the official date of the reopening of the parks and tennis courts in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

Meanwhile, please note that parks, park chalets, play structures, dog parks, tennis courts and all other sports playgrounds remain closed until further notice. The same is true for the library and the Centre Harpell.

ECOMUSEUM ZOO CALLS FOR HELP

With no income to support the ongoing expenses necessary to care for its animals, the Ecomuseum Zoo finds itself in a precarious situation. In an email to subscribers, zoo management writes: "If you can help, please consider making a donation to the zoo. But also know that your moral support is just as precious to us!"

The Ecomuseum Zoo is one of the pride of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. As the only zoo on the island of Montreal, it promotes respect for our wildlife and its beauty.

In response to this call for help, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue donated $ 5,000 to the Ecomuseum Zoo.
