Road Surface Treatment Work

Road surface treatment work is being conducted on a variety of roads throughout Thornbury and Clarksburg this week. The work is expected to be complete by Friday, July 8.

Partial lane closures will be in effect when the road work is happening. The Town utilizes surface treatment, also known as 'micro sealing' as a cost-effective solution to provide a new driving surface while preserving and protecting the underlying pavement structure. Lawn & Garden Watering Restrictions

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to remind residents that Watering Restrictions are  in effect through the summer until September.

Stage 1 Water Use Restriction:

  • Residents may water between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
  • Properties with odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered calendar days
  • Properties with even-numbered addresses can water on even-numbered calendar days

The restrictions are a necessary measure during the summer months to ensure that water capacity remains sufficient to meet peak demand during busy weekends or in the event of an emergency.

Please ensure your irrigation system is programmed to comply with the watering times. Failure to comply with prescribed watering times will result in charges.

Outdoor Fire & Summer Safety Tips

The Blue Mountains Fire Department would like to remind residents of outdoor fire and summer safety tips:

Outdoor Fires: Fire pits must be enclosed on all sides and constructed of masonry, concrete, stone, heavy gauge metal, or other non-combustible materials. Always have a portable fire extinguisher or an operable garden hose available while the fire is burning, as well as a competent person maintaining constant watch and control over the fire pit.

Stay Cool: Keep cool and hydrated and minimize your time in the sun between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Wear the Right Helmet: Everyone is encouraged to wear a helmet when cycling, inline skating, and skateboarding. The additional cushioning in a helmet could save your life.

BBQ Responsibly: Never leave a grill unattended, always position the grill well away from combustible objects and clean your grill regularly.

Pack an Emergency Kit: Whether you are going on a hike, drive, or camping trip, always bring an up-to-date emergency kit with you.
