MFA required for VPN

Starting July 22, 2024, UBC's myVPN (both myvpn.ok.ubc.ca AND myvpn.ubc.ca via Cisco AnyConnect) service will require multi-factor authentication (MFA) for an additional layer of security. This applies to all UBC students, faculty, and staff at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses

Windows 11 Auto-Update

Windows 10 will NOT be supported after October 2025. UBCO IT will automatically install Windows 11 on most managed computers starting August 5. Impacted users will receive an email with further details. The upgrade will be performed in the background with a reboot prompt, the same process as regular monthly Microsoft Updates. LEARN MORE...

Update your Email Alias

To ensure proper delivery of your emails, and compatibility with upcoming email enhancements (migration of FASmail from UBC hosted servers to the cloud based Exchange online), please update your email alias to firstname.lastname@ubc.ca by following the steps listed HERE. (NOTE: If you don't see the option to Add FASmail Alias then you have already completed this step! Hurrah!)

New Mail Sentry Service

To improve visibility into the messages that have been filtered and quarantined by the mail-relays, UBC IT and Cybersecurity have developed the Mail Sentry service to allow users to log in and view quarantined messages, as well as set up email notifications for when messages are caught. Financial balances cutover toolkit

Updated QR Code Guideline

University Relations has updated the QR code guidelines to allow them on signage that is protected with a glass or plexi covering, or posted six feet or higher. Signs must also be regularly checked to ensure no tampering has occurred. Contact  the Graphic Design team for more details and view the update gudie HERE or in Teams.

  • Intro to Machine Learning: neural Networks

    • In this workshop, participants will dive into the fascinating world of neural networks. Neural networks have emerged as powerful models for solving complex and nonlinear problems. Participants will gain insights into how neural networks can effectively capture and learn complex patterns in images, making them ideal for tasks like recognizing digits. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a solid foundation in neural networks and the ability to build robust pipelines using Scikit-learn.
