Richmond approves proposed 2026 operating and capital budgets

Richmond City Council has approved the proposed 2026 operating and capital budgets to support infrastructure, community services and safety.

The $245.7 million capital budget funds 89 projects, including major flood protection upgrades, the first phase of the City Works Yard replacement, $50 million for strategic land purchases, and investments in IT and emergency services.

Public consultation opens in early January 2026. Businesses and residents will be invited to review the proposed Consolidated 5-Year Financial Plan (2026–2030) and share their input at LetsTalkRichmond.ca.

BC leads on breaking down interprovincial trade barriers

British Columbia has signed a historic Canadian Mutual Recognition Agreement that will reduce interprovincial trade barriers and cut red tape for businesses.

Starting December 2025, many goods approved in one province can be sold across Canada without additional testing or certification, helping Richmond businesses expand their markets, lower costs, and compete more easily nationwide.

Richmond seeks public feedback on Steveston parking study

The City of Richmond is inviting businesses, residents, and visitors to help shape potential improvements to parking in the Steveston area.

As part of an ongoing study of parking supply, use and opportunities for improvement in Steveston Village, the City is seeking public input through an online survey.

Businesses are encouraged to share their feedback on LetsTalkRichmond.ca by Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Experience Winter in the Village

Winter in the Village is underway until December 31 in Steveston Village, offering festive lights, seasonal displays and family‑friendly activities.

The event draws visitors from across Richmond and beyond, creating increased foot traffic and exposure for local businesses. Highlights include Steveston Sips, the Festival of Trees, the Winter Tram experience, and holiday displays. Shops, cafés, and restaurants have an opportunity to engage the community, showcase products and services, and benefit from the seasonal boost in visitors.
