Law 25, Aviateurs.Québec and you

Since September 2022, Quebec has adopted measures to better protect the data of Internet users on the web. Bill 25, modernizing legislative provisions regarding the protection of personal information, aims precisely to clarify management and ensure greater protection of information in Quebec.

In addition, Law 25 modifies and adds several rights and obligations regarding the protection of citizens' personal data in order to better reflect today's reality. More particularly, it allows for better protection of individual rights by giving them more power over the processing of their personal data and by promoting better understanding of the consequences of their choices.

Thus, each person browsing the internet and giving their information to an organization has better control over their personal information.

As part of this new legislation, we would like to inform you that Aviateurs.Québec is compliant and we have made several updates to our website. To this end, the option to configure your cookies on our site is now active as well as the possibility of exercising your rights to erasure, indexing and portability of your information. Please note that these rights also apply to your subscription to our newsletter.

Capsule on aviation safety: Engine icing

Yesterday evening, September 26 at 7:00 p.m., the weather conditions reported at Saint-Hubert airport were:

Temperature: 14.6 C
Dew point: 9.8 C

A perfect recipe for a situation of intense carburetor icing, as demonstrated by the following graph taken from Transport Canada document TP2228e_38 . We are in a season that is most conducive to these kinds of conditions. Be careful.

For your information, we would like to draw your attention to a TSB report regarding an accident that occurred on December 5, 2022. In this report, the TSB concludes that:

Based on the conditions at the time of the occurrence, there was a risk of severe carburetor icing at descent power. Although the investigation was unable to determine whether carburetor icing was a factor in this occurrence, pilots are reminded that carburetor icing can occur at various temperatures and settings. of engine power.

We invite you to consult the A22O0165 report to find out more.

Agreement between the city of Saint-Hyacinthe and the NPO operating the Saint-Hyacinthe airport

In Saint-Hyacinthe, we recently celebrated the first anniversary of an agreement between the NPO which now operates the airport and the city of Saint-Hyacinthe. These two stakeholders are very satisfied with the agreement and the progress made since its signing.

The Courier de Saint-Hyacinthe also reported the declaration of the mayor of Saint-Hyacinthe, André Beauregard regarding this agreement:

We are very satisfied with the good news that has been shared with us and equally aware that there are still several challenges to overcome. Obviously, the NPO responsible for ensuring the upgrade of the airport is focused on the future and in solution mode. We would like to reiterate that this airport is a significant asset and an important lever for the development of our region. We are happy to support this structuring project for our community

Nilgaut aerodrome excluded from a protected area in Outaouais

La Presse in its August 30 edition announced that the Quebec government was going to "set aside" eleven new territories totaling more than 2,100 square km . Setting aside a territory gives it complete protection, in particular by prohibiting any exploitation of natural resources, until the type of protected area is determined and adopted. One of these targeted territories is located in Outaouais in a region which contains the Nilgaut aerodrome and which will be known as the Rivière Noire and Coulonges Bioversity Reserve (Source: La Presse ) .

Thanks to the numerous interventions made by François Martel, member of Aviateurs.Québec and one of the founders of the group Les Amis de l'aérodrome Nilgaut , the area of the Nilgaut aerodrome will be excluded from the protected area in Outaouais. François recently confirmed to us that he had received a communication from CREDDO (Regional Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development of Outaouais) indicating that the Nilgaut aerodrome had been excluded from the final route of the Rivière Noire Biodiversity Reserve project and Coulonge.

Good news which will allow the Friends of the Nilgaut aerodrome to continue their work, for the greater benefit of all aviators. Well done François.

Corrigendum: The Russell-Burnett couple inducted into the Air and Space Pantheon

In our last edition, we highlighted the official opening of the Russel-Burnett airport in Matane. In this article, we told you that the name of the airport was attributed to Gérard Burnet and his wife Elspeth Russell who founded Matane Air Services in 1947.

We added that Gérard Burnett had been inducted into the Air and Space Pantheon in 2020. We should have added that his wife Elspeth Russell was also inducted into the Pantheon, but in 2002. We apologize for this unfortunate oversight.
