Registration for Winter Term is not yet open. We will announce the registration date on our website and next newsletter.

MEND Canada Basketball Clinic 

MEND Canada will be running an Indigenous Youth Basketball clinic at the UBC Osborne Centre, hosted by UBC Active Kids and the School of Kinesiology.

Registration Is Available Here

Non-Indigenous youth are also welcome to attend.

No experience is necessary, all skill levels welcome!

Event highlights include:

- FREE breakfast for all participants and parents
- Opening ceremony led by Alec Guerin from Musqueam Indian Band, Dr. Robert Boushel, and UBC Men’s Basketball coach Kevin Hansen
- FREE event T-shirt
- Fun basketball games, skills, and drill session led by Basketball BC and UBC Active Kids coaches
- FREE lunch catered by West Coast Bannock
- Lunch time presentation by the UBC Kinesiology Indigenous Advisor Robert Busch
- Closing ceremony and sharing circle with parents encouraged to attend
- FREE ticket to a UBC Men’s Basketball Game (*some conditions apply)

Pro D Day Camp & Drop-In

Reminder that we do have our Pro D Day Camps running on Friday, October 25th.

There will be no morning drop-session this day due to camps. 

Private Lessons Update

We are excited to have private lessons running again this term!

Private lessons will be starting this month. We have contacted all those that were interested.

At this time, the schedule is full and will not be opening new spots at this time. If interested for future terms, please reach out to mallika.basra@ubc.ca.

Thanksgiving Reminder 

UBC Active Kids will be closed for Thanksgiving weekend Saturday, October 12th to Monday, October 14th. 

No programs or classes will be running as the facility will be closed.

Programs will continue on Tuesday, October 15th.

Halloween with Active Kids

Programs will be running on Halloween Thursday, October 31st. Participants are welcome to dress-up as long as the costume allows for safe participation.

Things to avoid: face makeup, loose bulky clothes, face paint, masks, stockings, etc.
