Bowinn Ma - MLA, North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA Bowinn Ma at Canada Day.

Dear --

Our door is still broken, but our office is definitely operating! While we wait for the parts required to repair our front doors following last month's security incident, residents of North Vancouver-Lonsdale can continue to reach us by phone, e-mail, and appointment (both virtual and in-person options available).

In just two months, BC has received almost 780 job applications from qualified health professionals across the United States, reflecting strong momentum from our coordinated US recruitment campaign. Building on this success, new strategies are underway to further attract internationally trained doctors.

We continue to be focused on growing a strong economy, finding new trade partners, protecting core services, and defending workers and businesses in the context of the ongoing trade war between Canada and the US. British Columbia has recently signed trade agreements with Ontario, Manitoba, and Yukon to help improve interprovincial worker mobility and trade.

The heat pump rebate program has been expanded and is now open to income-qualified renters and condo owners. Changes have also been made in provincial borrowing regulations to help municipalities have quicker access to financing to deliver capital projects, such as infrastructure or amenities.

Public engagement is now open to support implementation of the Infrastructure Projects Act (ie. Bill 15). Click here to have your say on how this important new Act is used to get shovels in the ground quicker for critical projects that people need in their communities.

Our North Shore Community

๐Ÿฆบ North Shore Disaster Risk Reduction

Nearly $1 million in provincial funding is being provided to the North Shore to support a Disaster Risk Reduction Action Plan. The action plan will reduce risk and empower residents, organizations and communities to share the responsibility to reduce disaster risk and adapt to climate change.

๐Ÿ  Hollybrook Housing Now Open

86 homes for independent seniors, individuals, and families with low to moderate incomes are now open at Hollybrook at 600 West Queens Road. This affordable housing project is owned and operated by the Hollyburn Community Housing Society and was made possible through a $15.5 million provincial contribution and an annual operating grant from the province.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Indigenous Food Security and Sovereignty

Two Indigenous food security projects in North Vancouver have received provincial funding. Native Fishing Association has received $150,000 for a seafood conference. The Squamish Nation has received $250,000 for a food pantry/kitchen upgrade.

Launched in 2023, the Indigenous Food Security and Sovereignty Program is supporting on- and off-reserve Indigenous-led projects.
