Highlights from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Board of Directors’ Meeting of September 23, 2021


The TNRD Board of Directors held its regular Board Meeting in-person and via Zoom at the Valley First Lounge of the Sandman Centre in Kamloops in adherence with the guidelines for organized gatherings as part of Step 3 of BC’s restart plan. Zoning Bylaw Amendments Proposed

Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2744 was given first and second reading by the Board. The zoning bylaw amendment proposed would rezone a portion of an Adams Lake Property to C-4: Recreational Commercial including a site-specific provision to enable a resort, RV park and two caretaker units.

Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2748 was also given first and second reading by the Board. The zoning bylaw amendment proposed would enable the construction and use of open air amusement rides/ attractions, including a miniature passenger train at the ‘Horsting’s’ properties north of Cache Creek.

Both zoning amendment bylaws will be brought to a Public Hearing at a future date.

Board Policies Updated

The Board approved five amended policies and one new policy for inclusion into the TNRD Board Policy Manual. Six policies will also be deleted from the manual based on review and recommendations by the Policy Review Committee.

Regional Grant-in-aid Autumn Intake

The Board approved the following applications for financial support through grant-in aid funding under the “Regional Grants and Sponsorship Program”:

  1. BC Wildlife Park in the amount of $5,000
  2. Interior Cutting Horse Association in the amount of $3,000
  3. Kamloops Exhibition Association in the amount of $5,000
  4. Western Canada Theatre in the amount of $5,000
