2026 Municipal and School Board Election

The Municipal and School Board Election is taking place this October, with the voting period beginning on October 16 at 10:00 a.m. and running to October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. The Town of The Blue Mountains is encouraging the public to visit Register To Vote to check, update or add yourself to the voters list.

During the voting period, voters in the Town will once again be able to cast their vote from the comfort of their home – or anywhere they can access the internet or telephone – 24 hours a day. A Voter Help Centre will be available during the Voting Period at The Blue Mountains Town Hall to provide assistance.

Interested candidates have until Friday, August 21, 2026, to file their nomination for the upcoming election. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk for more information regarding filing their nominations. A Candidate’s Guide is available on the Town website.

Notice of Crosswinds Boulevard Barrier Removal

The Town will be removing the barrier on Crosswinds Boulevard on Monday, July 13, 2026, allowing the roadway to open to through-traffic.

Before the road opens, Town staff will install additional traffic safety signage. Residents can expect to see crews and heavy equipment in the area as the concrete barriers are removed and final site activities, including sweeping and a roadway inspection, are completed.

Following the opening, the Town will continue to monitor traffic conditions and pedestrian safety.

James Hindle named 2026 Senior of the Year

Congratulations to James Hindle, recipient of the 2026 Province of Ontario Senior of the Year Award for the Town of The Blue Mountains.

Presented by Mayor Andrea Matrosovs and Council at the June 22 Council Meeting, the award recognizes James' decades of service and dedication to the community. Through Hindle's Clarksburg Hardware, James has spent more than 50 years helping residents, sharing his knowledge, and making his store a true community gathering place.

The Town is proud to recognize James for his outstanding contributions and lasting impact on The Blue Mountains. Congratulations, James!

Moreau Park Revitalization Update 

Updated preliminary designs for the revitalization of Moreau Park were presented to Committee of the Whole on Monday, June 29. Council directed staff to go back and update the design to include an optional basketball court and to address public and council feedback looking at safety and tree allocation. The updated design is scheduled to be presented to Council for approval at their meeting on Monday, July 13.

Stay Safe on the Water This Summer

The Blue Mountains Fire Department reminds residents and visitors to stay safe while enjoying Georgian Bay and the Beaver River. Local waterways can be unpredictable, with cold water, strong currents, rocky shorelines, and rapidly changing weather conditions.

Remember to:

• Check conditions before heading out. Avoid the water when currents are fast, muddy, or debris-filled, especially after heavy rain.
• Never paddle alone. Plan your route, including entry and exit points, and be aware that offshore winds can quickly carry paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, and inflatables far out into Georgian Bay.
• Always wear a life jacket. Georgian Bay remains dangerously cold, even in summer. Wear a Transport Canada-approved PFD before entering the water.
• Take care along shorelines. Wear sturdy water shoes and watch for sudden drop-offs and slippery rocks.
• Download the free what3words app. In an emergency, your unique three-word location can help first responders find you faster.

A little preparation can make a big difference. Stay alert, stay safe, and enjoy the water responsibly this summer.

Private Well Water Testing

Reminder that the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit offers water testing for residents on private wells. Samples will be picked up weekly from Ravenna Hall at 10:00 a.m. each Friday. Samples must be dropped off within 24 hours of the pick up time. For more information, please visit the Grey Bruce Public Health website.
