This technology enables surgeons to precisely place depth electrodes within a patient’s brain to map seizure activity. This information will help care teams guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes, including the potential to stop seizures altogether. Epilepsy affects approximately 12,000 people in Saskatchewan. This technology was made possible by a fundraising campaign led by the RUH Foundation, including a gift of $700,000 from Merlis Belsher and Family. | Recognition and Appreciation | April is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Month April is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Month, a time to honour those who have donated and recognize those waiting for lifesaving and life-enhancing transplants. Organ and tissue donation coordinators will be on site at all Saskatoon and Regina hospitals throughout the month. - Wear green on April 7 for Green Shirt Day
Donating organs or tissues, whether living or deceased, is a life-changing gift. Visit the Tissue and Organ Donation webpage for more information. | April 7 is Green Shirt Day | April 7 is Green Shirt Day and is a day to honour the victims of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy and their families. It is also a day to continue the legacy of Logan Boulet, a Humboldt Broncos player whose example has inspired thousands of Canadians to register as organ and tissue donors and to talk to their families about their wishes. On April 7, in honour of his legacy, we invite you to take a moment to recognize and show appreciation to Logan, his family, and other organ and tissue donors who have made the selfless decision to give the gift of life and sight to others by wearing green. | Supporting Modesty and Culturally Safe Care during Childbirth Supporting Modesty and Culturally Safe Care during Childbirth Poster (CS-PIER-0347) is now available to use. This poster is available for use in outpatient and inpatient Maternal and Children's care settings. Maternal and Children’s care settings are accountable for the implementation of this document. For additional information, refer to the healthcare provider guidelines below or email MatChildKMU@saskhealthauthority.ca. | University Bridge and College Drive closure | Construction will begin on the City of Saskatoon’s College Drive Link – Bus Rapid Transit project during the week of April 6. This will result in the closure of the University Bridge, and College Drive between Clarence Avenue and Hospital Drive to all traffic, except emergency and authorized vehicles. Staff and physicians, including those travelling from outside of Saskatoon, are reminded to plan for extra time travelling to and from Royal University Hospital, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, and the Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health. Access to Hospital Drive and these facilities is only available via westbound College Drive. Patients and families who have booked appointments at those facilities should be made aware of possible delays and plan alternate routes. Inter-facility staff shuttles will be permitted to use the University Bridge, but traffic delays may still occur. Updates and additional information can be found on the City of Saskatoon website or by subscribing to the Bus Rapid Transit newsletter. | Recruitment and Education Incentive Directory now live The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) in partnership with the Network of Hospital and Health Care Foundations (Network), launched the Recruitment and Education Incentive Directory. This online tool brings together current recruitment and education incentives in Saskatchewan to support SHA leaders and foundations in strengthening the health workforce. Incentives can be browsed by home foundation, SHA or government source, and foundation incentives are searchable by keyword or filter. Development was led by a joint SHA/Network subcommittee tasked with recruitment and retention as a priority focus of their 2025-26 Roadmap to Success, in collaboration with the SHA’s Community and Foundation Relations team. This initiative reflects the strength of the partnership between the SHA and the Network and highlights the meaningful impact of philanthropy in strengthening care teams. SHA is deeply grateful for the Network’s commitment to this shared goal. | Clarification: Accessing accrual balances in MyWork Following the recent update to accrual balance access, we would like to provide some additional clarification.
