COVID19: Build your own screening tool

New COVID-19 screening requirements

Ontario has made it mandatory to screen employees and essential visitors for COVID-19 before they enter the workplace for the day. Here’s how to easily comply – at no cost:

  • The screening needs to include three questions, about employees’ health, travel and contacts. If they answer “yes” to any of the questions, they must self-isolate and contact their health provider to determine if they need a COVID-19 test.

  • You should keep screening records for 30 days. You can do this on paper or electronically, as long as the questions line up with the province’s COVID-19 Screening Tool for Workplaces.

  • Customers do not need to be screened. The regulation only applies to employees and essential visitors, like delivery people, maintenance workers and contractors.

This doesn’t need to cost you a cent!

Some companies are trying to sell costly products to help you with this screening – but you don’t need them! CFIB has put together a quick video tutorial to show you how to create a free online screening tool using Microsoft Forms:

We have been working closely with the province to make sure the government knows what support your business needs during this crisis. Be sure to check our COVID-19 Help Centre and screening FAQ for more information, or call our Business Helpline at 1-888-234-2232.
