Mayor's Message

Mayor Steve Pellegrini

On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the February edition of the King Bulletin.

2024 Volunteer Appreciation Awards

I’m pleased to announce that nominations are now open for our Volunteer Appreciation Awards. We’re inviting the community to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes who embody the spirit of selflessness and community service.

King's volunteers contribute to many successes, selflessly donating thousands of hours for many causes.

Award recipients are celebrated during a special, invitation-only ceremony, to be held at the King Township Municipal Centre during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, the week of April 21-27.

Information about the different award categories, as well as instructions on how to nominate a person or organization, can be found at king.ca/awards.

Mayor’s Cultural Gala

King Township is a vibrant and exciting community and part of what makes it unique is its heritage and culture. The Township of King is partnering with Arts Society King (ASK) to bring you the third Mayor’s Cultural Gala in support of arts, culture and heritage in King Township.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘An Equestrian Affair’ and it will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29 at The Manor at 16750 Weston Road.

Funds raised from this event will go towards supporting the important work of ASK and the King Heritage & Cultural Centre. This will include arts, culture, heritage-based programming, exhibitions and special events, as well as the preservation and restoration of important heritage buildings.

The Mayor’s Cultural Gala is a biennial fundraising event. Our last gala event, held on September 2022, was a tremendous success and raised $76,000 in support of arts, culture and heritage in King Township.

For information on how to sponsor the event, donate an item to the silent auction, or purchase a ticket, visit king.ca/mayorsgala.

Please continue to volunteer, shop locally as much as you can and visit king.ca for the latest news on all things King.

Sincerely,

Mayor Steve Pellegrini

Property tax and water billing information

King Township water bills for the last quarter of 2023 were delivered in the mail last week. The due date is February 27.

New in 2024, property owners will now receive six water bills a year instead of four, for the billing cycle ending in February, April, June, August, October and December reflecting two months of usage.

Register for the Township's ebilling service to receive an electronic version of your water utility bill directly to your email. Late payments are charged 5% after the due date.

To avoid missing or late payments sign up for automatic withdrawals through the Township’s Pre-Authorized Debit Program (PAD). Download the ebilling and PAD enrollment forms online at king.ca/waterbilling.

Property tax bills are mailed twice a year, once in January and once in June. Each tax notice has two due dates on it. King Township should have received their 2024 interim tax bill in mid-January, with the first installment due on February 21.

Register for the Township's ebilling service to receive an electronic version of your property tax bill directly to your email. Avoid missing a payment by signing up for automatic withdrawals through the Township’s Pre-Authorized Debit Program (PAD).

Meet the Mayor and Ward Councillors

Meet the Mayor and Ward Councillors

Meet the Mayor and your Ward Councillor at one of four informal, drop-in sessions running throughout the winter and into spring. Your local leaders work hard to make progress on important issues that face your communities, and they want to connect with you!

These gatherings aim to promote open dialogue and enhance communication and engagement between King Township residents and their elected representatives. Attendees will have the chance to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas in an informal setting. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Session runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is not required.

Mayor Steve Pellegrini will attend all four sessions.
