This is what our required stewardship work days and related stewardship responsibilities entail:
Clean-up days
Picking up debris left on the properties. We find such debris regularly, especially if the land borders a road with some traffic, even a rural road.
Taking the collected debris to the eco-centre.
Marking the boundaries of the protected properties
We must mark the perimeter of the lands we are responsible for, with small markers attached to trees.
This year, we plan to put up 400 markers.
Removal of exotic invasive plant species
To protect and maintain biodiversity, we must limit the spread of species that take over from indigenous species:
We therefore pull up or otherwise get rid of and remove these plants.
We then take the plant debris to the eco-centre for disposal.
