Craigleith Station is celebrating 145 years

The exact date of the construction of the Craigleith Station is unknown. Based on secondary sources it is believed that the station was built in 1879. That makes it 145 years old this year!

The building was constructed with local timber and had the most modern features in railway design, including the round turret.

It is now one of the last remaining original train stations in Ontario. Come explore this unique historic building and see all that it has to offer.

Celebrate 40 years of Freedom to Read Week this February 18-24

Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages people to think about intellectual freedom, its importance, and the challenges that Canadians are facing related to censorship.

This year we’re celebrating by joining the Book Sanctuary Movement to draw attention to stories that have been challenged, censored, or removed across North America, and to reaffirm our commitment as a public library to providing access to information, spaces, and programs that spark discussions and broaden perspectives. Join the movement by checking out a book from our book sanctuary or diving into an article or resource below.

Learn more about the movement by visiting freedomtoread.ca.
