With over 100 swimmers competing throughout the weekend, it was an incredible celebration of Masters swimming in Nova Scotia filled with great racing, energy, and community spirit.

NOVA TECH EXPLOSION

This season, we had a total of 54 swimmers graduate from Participation to Level 1, 44 swimmers graduate from Level 1 to Level 2 and 89 swimmers graduate out of Nova Tech into our Age Group Developoment program!  Congratulations swimmers 👏

A huge thank you to all of our dedicated officials for their incredible commitment throughout the 2025–2026 season! 👏🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

This year, officials supported 32 sanctioned year-round competitions, four Masters meets, one varsity competition, and numerous time trials across the province. Your time, expertise, and dedication continue to make competition opportunities possible for swimmers at every level of our sport.

With the summer swimming season and open water competitions still ahead, we are incredibly grateful to have such a strong and passionate officiating community supporting swimming in Nova Scotia. We couldn’t do it without you!

🏊‍♀️ April Masters Skills Camps:

In partnership with the Dalhousie Tigers, Masters swimmers had the opportunity to participate in a spring skills camp series focused on technical development and continued learning. Our final camp of the season, which welcomed 14 participants, focused on Butterfly and Individual Medley skills, providing swimmers with an opportunity to refine technique, build confidence, and improve performance in two of the sport’s more technical disciplines.

🏊‍♀️  Tech to Best Camp:

Tech to Best Camps wrapped up another successful year this spring, with over 60 swimmers ages 11-14 from across Nova Scotia participating in two high-energy development camps at the RECC Pool in Truro.

The camps focused on technical skill development through targeted in-water sessions led by coaches from across the province, with swimmers working on starts, streamlining, turns, and kick technique. Participants also took part in a dryland session led by Keishia Mills, adding another valuable component to the camp experience.

Thank you to all of the coaches, and swimmers who helped make this year’s Tech to Best Camps another great success.

🏊‍♀️  Distance Camp:

Swim Nova Scotia’s Distance Camp returned this spring at Dalplex Pool, bringing together top distance swimmers from across the province for a weekend focused on skill development, race strategy, and high-performance training.

Throughout the camp, swimmers worked on refining technique, optimizing stroke counts, and enhancing their approach to both training and racing in distance events. The camp provided athletes with valuable opportunities to learn, challenge themselves, and connect with fellow distance swimmers from across Nova Scotia.

🏊‍♀️  Atlantic Prospects:

The inaugural Atlantic Prospects Camp took place this spring in Prince Edward Island, bringing together swimmers and coaches from across all four Atlantic provinces for a weekend of focused training and collaboration.

Led by Swimming Canada National Coach Mark Perry, the camp provided athletes and coaches with valuable opportunities to challenge themselves, build connections, and gain new insights to support their continued development both in and out of the pool.

Thank you to UPEI for hosting the event, and to all of the coaches and support staff who helped make the weekend such a positive and impactful experience for everyone involved.

ANOTHER GREAT COACHES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSION!

In partnership with the Canadian Swim Coaches Association (CSCA), Swim Nova Scotia recently hosted another successful Coaches Professional Development session featuring guest speaker Vlastimil Cerny, Head Coach at the University of Manitoba.

Coaches from across the province came together for a valuable classroom-based session focused on Train 2 Race, Economy of Swimming, Teaching Technical & Racing Skills, and Starts & Turns. The session provided coaches with an opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and continue enhancing their technical knowledge and coaching development.

Swim Nova Scotia is excited to welcome both new and returning members of our 2026 Summer Program Coordinators team!

Joining the team for their first summer with Swim NS are Lily Rooney and Sophie Idle, while Meredith Coolen, Katharine, Daniel Sutherland, and Olivia Jodrey return for another season supporting programs and initiatives across the province.

With backgrounds ranging from varsity swimming and coaching to Swim Nova Scotia alumni, this group brings a great mix of experience, energy, and passion for the sport as we prepare for another exciting summer season.
