NEW: Community Calendar - Submit Your Events

See what's happening and submit your events on the new Community Calendar, hosted on the Bowen Library website.

Find all you need to get started here:

The Community Calendar is open to submissions from groups, businesses, non-profits, and community members looking to promote their events happening on Bowen Island.

The calendar is just the structure—we need your help populating it with your community events. You can easily submit your events and find out more at bipl.ca/cal .

Not only is the calendar helpful for the public to see what’s happening on Bowen Island, but it’s a great tool for event planners. As more organizations enter their events, you can see what’s coming up and if there are any date conflicts with the event you want to plan.

Entering your event also helps inform others who may be considering planning an event on the same day as your event.

Please pass the word along to anyone you know hosting a public event!

Spintronics is a new game (ages 8 to adult) from the makers of Turing Tumble where players build mechanical circuits to solve puzzles. It’s fun, fascinating, easy-to-learn, and irresistible to play.

Old General Store 100th Birthday Celebration & Picnic

Saturday, August 10, 2024 | 12-3 pm

Constructed in 1924 for the Union Steamship Company, and now the home of the Bowen Library, our largest and most iconic heritage building is 100 years old this year. Join us in celebrating this beautiful building and those who saved it from demolition in 1984.

Saturday August 10th from 12pm to 3pm we invite you to bring a picnic to the Library lawn and enjoy music, displays, art, games, activities, a giant birthday cake and a community photo. You are encouraged to dress in 1920’s attire, and to bring your own picnic or order a grab and go lunch from local food vendors.

Schedule of events:

  • 12:00–1:00 pm Picnic on the lawns
  • 12:30–1:30 pm Games
  • 1:30–2:00 pm Birthday cake and speeches
