BC's Provincial Budget 2023 consultation has been released. 

Parks and Recreation budget requirements are discussed on page 45, with input from the FMCBC noted on page 46. FMCBC Directors are hopeful that the government is listening and provides better support for Rec, Sites and Trails and BC Parks.

Apply now: Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program Grants 

The FWCP annual grant intake is open for projects that will help conserve and enhance fish and wildlife, benefit the region’s ecosystems, at-risk species, and its vital habitats.

The article refers to a new guide, Wild Places and Green Spaces: A Citizen's Guide to Proving Public Access, prepared by UVIC Environmental Law Centre for ORCBC. The Guide can be downloaded for free from the UVIC ELC website:

An upcoming webinar from ORCBC, Best Practices for Trails on Private Land, is scheduled from 1-2 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. 

Ascent Mentorships are now accepting applications for their winter 2022/23 program. They encourage everyone to apply, no matter your skill level, education, confidence (or lack there of ;) - this is exactly why they are here!

Applications are open until September 30, so take your time and please spread the word to any friends in Revelstoke.

PNWOA GCC Team overachieved the challenge in August

Pacific NorthWest Outdoor Association (PNWOA) organized a team (PNWOA GCC Team) to participate in 2022 Great Cycle Challenge to raise fund for SickKids Foundation to help child health research and child cancer treatment.

The team set up two goals: to ride 2000 KM and to raise $2500 for SickKids Foundation in the month of August 2022. PNWOA GCC Team have overachieved both goals. By August 31st, 2022, they have ridden 2228 KM and raised $5759.

This was a very successful team event. PNWOA GCC Team included 10 members. Among them, 8 participated in this event the first time, and 3 were occasional riders with minimum cycling experiences. A series of group riding activities have also accomplished PNWOA’s mission by promoting road cycling safety while enjoying outdoor cycling experience.
