Bylaw Amendments

Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw: Development Permit Areas

The OCP amendment is in response to recent provincial housing legislation directives and staff’s experience working with the design guidelines since 2019. Design guidelines guide the form and character of commercial and residential development and development in hillside, environmentally sensitive and riparian areas across the City.

The amendment reduces the guidelines found in Chapter 5: Development Permit Area Guidelines from 169 to 119 and eliminates the requirement for carriage house development permits.

Zoning Bylaw 2024-22

City staff use and manage the Zoning Bylaw on a regular basis to regulate land use as well as the form, siting, height and density of development to ensure that development meets the needs of the community. General updates to the Zoning Bylaw are completed as needed to ensure the regulations are consistent and are relevant to current development needs.

The amendment is minor in nature and intended as an update to the regulations that were introduced by the new Zoning Bylaw No.2024-22 that was adopted last year by Council in June 2024, which replaced the previous Zoning Bylaw No. 2023-08.
