Virtual Work Guide

WHY ADJUSTING TO VIRTUAL WORK IS IMPORTANT TO YOUTH AND EMPLOYERS

What does it mean to work virtually? It could mean working from home, in a cafe, in a shared workspace, or location where you are physically separated from the members of your team. Whereas in the past we might have used conference calls and emails to stay connected when out of the office, today we have access to video conferencing software, instant messaging and a myriad of collaborative tools previously not available - making working virtually easier and more effective.

This guide seeks to give youth, the people that employ them, and the people that seek to support them, a toolkit for how to grow within a team, how to make the best of the skills they build, and how to navigate and support a new career, all virtually. It also seeks to begin a conversation in the virtual work, mentorship, and career development space.

Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues 

Recognizing a gap in allyship and inclusion resources rooted in a community context, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) began this journey of working with Community partners and Edmonton’s Community Leagues to create a series of courses entitled Supporting Inclusive Communities.

These courses support those interested in community building, particularly Edmonton’s Community League Members, to consider all the ways they can be allies to the neighbours they serve.

To promote continuous learning beyond the course, the EFCL has created the following resource document that provides more support beyond the content presented in the modules. Feel free to use it and share it as you see fit.

Free Guide to Voting

This resource helps literacy practitioners engage adult learners in civic literacy leading up to the federal election on September 20th, 2021.

Created in partnership with Elections Canada, A Guide to Voting includes information, links, and activities to help learners understand voting basics, such as how to register to vote, different ways to vote, and the accessibility resources available. It also guides practitioners through talking to their learners about why voting is important and what to expect at a polling place.
