Happy Rentrée to all who celebrate! La Rentrée, an expression we use in Québec, means “back to school” or, in a larger sense, “back to the routine/back to work after summer vacation”. Here's to a new energy, a clean slate, and a chance for new beginnings! 

It was an honour for the Government of Québec to host the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in Québec City this past weekend. Through ongoing dialogue, Québec, Eastern Canada, and New England continue to develop strong partnerships, driven by common goals and values. The green economy, the energy transition and our regional economic prosperity are at the center of our collaborations.

✈️ The Vermont Manufacturing Summit

On October 25 & 26, join us as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Québec-Vermont Aerospace Trade Corridor with our friends from the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Aéro Montréal and Investissement Québec!

The Manufacturing Summit is bringing together industry peers to create a niche network and facilitate sourcing and procurement opportunities between OEM buyers, suppliers, and partners for stronger, adaptive, innovative, and nimble supply chains in Vermont, throughout New England, and in the U.S. and Canada.

This two-day virtual event with an in-person networking reception highlights the manufacturing sectors of aerospace and aviation, defense and space, industrial, naval, and marine, and medical devices as significant economic drivers.

🎥 Food, Film and Friendship at the VTIFF

On October 29, join us for a very special day, featuring top chefs from Québec and Vermont, of Food, Film & Friendship!

This event organized in partnership with The Vermont International Film Festival , Tourisme Haut Richelieu & Montérégie, The Essex Resort & Spa, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, is inspired by the Québec film festival "Cuisine, Cinéma et Confidences." 

Seven renowned chefs will whip up dishes and unique tasting menus inspired by the documentary The Empire of Scents (Le Nez) produced by Lucie Tremblay and by the film C.R.A.Z.Y. by renowned Québec filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée. A round table with the chefs is scheduled after each film.

This year, the New England-Canada Business Council's annual U.S-Canada Executive Energy Conference will feature a Québec Electrification Technologies Briefing and Showcase!

On November 1st, come meet Québec companies leading the way in the sustainable mobility field and take a look at their innovative EV solutions, from electric ambulances to street sweepers! Think of it as a touch-a-truck for grown ups!

BIO 2023: Québec is the Coolest Hotspot!

Last June, over 100 Québec life sciences and health technologies professionals, from 58 companies and organizations, were in town for the BIO International Convention. More than *450* B2B meetings were organized for our participants, introducing them to potential clients and partners.

🔬Two panels open to the public showcased Québec as a global life sciences and health technologies hub: The CQIB, Quebec Life Sciences Incubator & Accelerator presented on "Turbocharging a Life Sciences company: sharing perspectives from Qc & Mass" and Oncopole focused on « Rare diseases-cancers / rare data = public-private partnership opportunities? »

 

Bonne fête, Québec!

This year, City of Boston Mayor, Michelle Wu, proclaimed June 21, 2023 Québec National Day in Boston! The Québec flag flew proudly over City Hall for the first time in history! Not only do Québec and the City of Boston work together on many key issues, such as transportation, open space, and regional economic development, we also share a deep friendship rooted in a common heritage.

All aboard! 

This summer, we hosted a delegation of transportation leaders from New England in Québec City to discuss sustainable mobility and to ride on the first hydrogen-powered passenger train in North America!

🚆The future of transportation is here, and it was an honour to take part in the demonstration of the Coradia iLint, made possible by Alstom, Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD), Train de Charlevoix, Harnois Énergies, Chemin de fer Charlevoix, and HTEC. 

Québec and Vermont: Meeting the climate crisis with the urgency it demands 

Last August, Québec Minister Benoit Charette (Ministère de l'Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, Faunes et Parcs du Québec) and Vermont Secretary Julie Moore (Vermont Agency of Natural Resources) met in Montréal to discuss their efforts in the protection and management of the Lake Champlain and Lake Memphremagog watersheds.

🤝Sharing best practices and policies is key to the success of our regional collaborations! 

"No Borders: EV Acceleration in 2023" Webinar 

The New England-Canada Business Council held its “No Borders: EV Acceleration in 2023” webinar on September 13. Québec Delegate, Marie-Claude Francoeur shared an update on the Québec electric and smart transportation sector and discussed innovative pathways of regional collaborations.

🔌It was great to hear strategies and best practices from Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. Key takeaway? Together we can engage our populations, educate a new generation of workers, and continue our efforts to decarbonize and strengthen our regional economy.

New Hampshire and Vermont Annual Bankers Conference

On September 25, Québec Delegate, Marie-Claude Francoeur, welcomed the MBBA-NH Mortgage Bankers Association and the Vermont Bankers Association, Inc. to Québec City!   "From the Green to the White Mountains, Québec, Vermont and New Hampshire share strong historical, cultural and economic ties. We share a border, but we also share the same soil, water, air … and DNA!". 

⛰️From our common heritage to our striving economic and political relationships it was a pleasure to exchange with this lively group!

CULTURAL CORNER

Agathe & Adrien present N.Ormes in CT

On October 4th and 5th, join us in the journey of the exploration of gender norms and archetypes at the Quick Center, where Agathe and Adrien, recent graduates of the Circus School of Québec, will take you on an hour-long quest for friendship, fairness, power, and fluidity.

NH Poutine Fest

The largest poutine event in the United States is back in NH on October 14. Twelve restaurants will compete for the “Best Poutine Of The Fest,” title at the event, benefiting the Franco-Amerian Center of New Hampshire.

Festival Champlain du Film Francophone

On October 20, the Québec movie Au revoir le bonheur/Goodbye happiness (2021) by Ken Scott will be screened at this two-day film festival...en français!
