SHA CARES - Living our Values

In health care and caregiving roles, supporting others is part of the job. But caring for yourself is just as important.

Whether you're a health-care worker, caregiver, or someone who spends their days helping others, taking time to rest, recharge and care for your own well-being can help protect your mental health.

This Self-Care Day, consider one small thing you can do for yourself. A short walk, a coffee break, time with family, or simply pausing to take a breath can make a meaningful difference.

When we care for ourselves, we're better equipped to care for others.

 Recognition and Appreciation

Celebrating SHA Volunteers – International Year of the Volunteer

Summer Fun: Wascana Rehabilitation Center Children’s Program Summer Program. Volunteer Zahin Jeena encouraged participant John Sklar while participating in the Adapted Tennis Program in Regina

Throughout the summer, SHA Volunteers bring energy, compassion, and joy to programs, events, and outings across the province, helping patients, residents, and clients enjoy the season.

Working alongside recreation teams, volunteers support BBQs, trips to greenhouses and local farms, and outdoor entertainment such as concerts and visits from live animals—creating moments of connection and happiness.

In Regina, volunteers partner with SHA Exercise Therapists to support summer day camps for children of all ages and abilities. Through activities like kayaking and tennis, they build confidence, encourage participation, and foster safe, welcoming environments.

Every day across Saskatchewan, volunteers generously give their time to enhance the lives of those in our care. This International Year of the Volunteer, we proudly celebrate their impact.

Thank you to all our volunteers—you make a difference.

Farm Visit: Southeast Integrated Care Center - Moosomin Volunteer Trent Schmidt treated residents to a tour of his farm where Seb Flaman got to enjoy the sights and sounds of farm life.
