 Construction Work: Permits and Certificates

Before starting any construction work, be sure to check whether a permit or a certificate is required.

Temporary Car Shelters

Temporary shelters are permitted from September 15 to May 1:

  • Only one temporary shelter per property is permitted.
  • Using a temporary shelter for storage purposes or as an accessory building is prohibited.

Dog Tags

Permanent residents: It is now mandatory to obtain an identification tag for your dog, at a one-time cost of $15, valid for the lifetime of the animal.

To do so, please visit Town Hall to complete the registration form, make the payment and receive your tag.

Next Large Objects Collection:
September 8, 2026

Registration deadline: September 3, 2026

Large objects must not be placed in the garbage. They must be taken to the Ecocenter or picked up through the large objects collection service by prior registration.

Construction materials are not accepted during large objects collections and must be taken to the Ecocenter.

 Shoreline Protection 

When carrying out work on your property, be sure to respect the protected shoreline area, which ranges from 10 to 15 metres in width depending on the circumstances.

This protected shoreline area plays a vital role in protecting habitats and aquatic and terrestrial wildlife, helping to preserve our natural environment.

Septic Tank Pumping

Septic tanks must be pumped every two years for permanent residences and every four years for seasonal residences.

Boat Washing Station

To help preserve the quality of our lakes and rivers, anyone wishing to launch a boat must first visit the municipal boat washing station to clean their watercraft and any equipment that will come into contact with the water.

Grant Program for Sustainable Hygiene Products and Reusable Cloth Diapers

Reduce your waste, one action at a time! ♻️

The Municipality of the Township of Harrington wishes to encourage the adoption of reusable alternatives in order to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

That is why the municipality is offering financial assistance for the purchase of sustainable hygiene products and reusable cloth diapers.
