ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, APRIL 13, 2019 IN TROIS-RIVIÈRES

The Board of Directors of Aviateurs.Québec has decided to hold the next Annual General Meeting in Trois-Rivières on April 13, 2019.

The meeting will be held in the amphitheater of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

The Board has therefore endorsed two important changes. A first change on the date that should be more favorable to those who would like to travel by plane. And the second is to hold this important meeting at a location that is geographically more favorable for our members located in the central region of Quebec and those more to the east.

More details to come. But in the meantime, mark your calendar. We are waiting for you.

PROJECT TO DEVELOP AN AERODROME RETURNS BEFORE THE COURTS

On November 15, 2016, the city of Mascouche put the lock on the Mascouche airport. It was the end of an epic that lasted more than 40 years.

With a memorandum of understanding signed with the city of Mascouche and which  favored the relocation of this airport, a non-profit organization had been working for some time with the mission of developing a Mascouche 2.0.

On December 1, 2016, the NPO sealed before a notary the purchase of two lands for the development of the Aerodrome Les Moulins. One of these lands was located within the limits of the city of Mascouche and the other in Terrebonne.

From the beginning of the work a few days later, the city of Mascouche takes action and opposes the development project. She files an application for an injunction that will be heard by the Justice Claude Auclair, j.c.s of the Superior Court of Quebec. In February 2017, judge Auclair dismissed the application for an injunction from the city of Mascouche. The next major legal step becomes the trial on the substantive debate. The backbone of this trial is essentially a constitutional debate in which the Attorney General of Quebec and the city of Mascouche question federal jurisdiction over aeronautics. This trial will be held before Justice Martin Castonguay, j.c.s. and he will render his judgment in February 2018. This judgment again gives reason to the promoter of the new aerodrome and reaffirms the federal jurisdiction in this matter. Sadly, for all those who waited impatiently for the arrival of a new aerodrome, the judgment is appealed. And that's where the record is.

The case will be heard in the Quebec Court of Appeal in Montreal on November 20 and 21.

We invite you to attend these hearings and bring your support to this cause that touches us all, from near and far.

The Court of Appeal of Quebec in Montreal is located at 100 Notre-Dame Street East, Montreal (opposite the Courthouse of Montreal). The hearings start at 9:00 in the morning.

WE NEED YOUR CONTRIBUTION

You have had one or more air events during the year Jean-Pierre Bonin would like to include ONE photo that you consider representative of your event in the annual magazine L'Aviateur magazine. You had two activities? Send two photos! (More than two activities ... choose the two most important ones please.) You can send him a high resolution photo file with a brief description and location.

Do not forget to mention the name of the photographer.

Jean-Pierre would appreciate receiving the files and descriptions no later than November 15th

In 2017, after a call to all, he received ... zero photos (!) And the review of the year was dedicated to air shows ... Surely your RVA, your training session, your dinner or other events are worth appearing at sides of others. He wishes again this year, give way to those who make the aviation passion live year after year and sometimes remain in the shadows.

If your event was mentioned during the year in L'Aviateur magazine, no problem! It's a magazine of the year so you can still be there. Simply send a photo that has not been published "in the magazine" (It does not matter if it was seen by 800 people on the Internet!) Thank you for your cooperation, hoping to see your group, airport or activity of 2018 in the next edition of L'Aviateur Magazine!

Jean-Pierre Bonin, aerial events photographer boninjp@aviateurs.quebec
